ABOUT HIGHLANDS GOLF CLUB

Private Yet Downright Welcoming in Edmonton

Highlands Golf Club provides members and guests with a welcoming and exceptional experience. Highlands blends decades of golf tradition with a newly renovated, modern clubhouse designed for today’s members, diners, and event guests. As one of Edmonton’s most inclusive private clubs, we’re proud of our rich history, our community-focused values, and our commitment to creating a place where everyone feels at home.

Highlands Golf Club History

1929

The Club signed a deal with the City of Edmonton to spend $20,000 to build the golf course and clubhouse. Construction began during the summer.

1930

The west 9 holes opened for play. Yearly green fees for shareholders and spouses were set at $35.

1931

All 18 holes opened for play.

1938

$5,000 was spent to renovate the clubhouse.

1948

First time a pump and pipes had been used to irrigate the golf course.

1960

A new Pro Shop was built.

1967

Construction of the freeway bridge along 75th street began. The golf course needed to be rerouted, and a number of changes to individual holes were made. The freeway officially opened in 1969.

1970

The clubhouse had a major renovation.

1986

The North Saskatchewan River flooded hole #8, resulting in a portion of the hole needing to be rebuilt.

1991

New ponds were installed on holes #8 and #9.

1996

Construction on a new clubhouse was finished and the clubhouse opened.

2006

After receiving a donation from past members, the Pro Shop was renovated.

2011

Construction on the new maintenance building was finished and the building opened.

2016

A new irrigation system was installed, and the Long-Range Golf Course Renovation Plan was completed.

2026

A new Long-Range Plan for the Club was completed, which included renovations to holes #10 and #12, the addition of a new short game practice area, and an extensive clubhouse renovation, which included an expansion of the kitchen and the east patio.
